Circularity and Creativity: From Recycled Phone Cases to Armour, Bonsai, and Furniture

It's a scientist's romance and a love for the world: at RHINOSHIELD, we use material engineering to create a variety of phone cases with functionality, sustainability, and craftsmanship. When they eventually become your old love and are recycled into the RHINO LOOP circular ecosystem, they will be reborn in the hands of artists, transformed into one creative work after another.

"Protect Every Identity" is RHINOSHIELD's advocacy for diversity, equality and inclusion. When phone cases are no longer simply for drop protection, more and more people use them as a mobile billboard, showcasing their personal style while also declaring the values they care about through the design on the case.

We have partnered with Nymphia, NGOs, and creators from all walks of life to respond to the annual pride parade theme of "Embrace Inclusion" and launch the Pride 2024 design series. Through phone cases, AirPods cases, water bottles, and other personal accessories, we can express the diverse self-identities on the spectrum in our daily lives, joining forces to increase the visibility of the LGBTQIA+ community.

At the same time, we also invited Nymphia and designer Li Yu Shen to use recycled phone case materials as the main material for the drag queen's costume. This recycled golden armour symbolizes her strong inclusivity and powerful protection, accompanying her to the stage with fearlessness.

We have spent over a decade developing a vast universe of circular products and plastic management solutions. Through this exhibition, we have the opportunity to dialogue with the public and share our worldview.

Sustainability is our unwavering principle, so all the objects used in this exhibition are, as far as possible, recycled or reusable. We have crushed recycled phone cases and circulated them into panels, which were then remade into exhibition tables, lampshades, and planters; we also used recycled and defective products to reassemble them into visual walls and curtains.

In addition, we have partnered with South Korea's NoPlasticSunday to simulate RHINOSHIELD's circular manufacturing processes and create a mini-experience workshop. Participants can use recycled phone cases and factory scraps to recreate their own miniature phone charms through a heat press machine.

Made from 100% recycled materials without any virgin plastic, CircularNext was born out of RHINOSHIELD's commitment to mono-material design and sustainable material technology. 

We have successfully developed ShockSpread™ ECO, which extends circular lifespan by more than 6 times. This also means that the aforementioned creative works can be sent back to our recycling system when needed in the future, and be regenerated into phone cases once again, returning to your hands to be loved and used.
